I've been waiting for this record to be re-issued and take me by the hand. Joy Division's first album from 1979 is a post-punk masterpeice. Filled with brooding guitars and cavernous echoes, this album startles the user into morbid fascination. The opening crack of drums on album opener "Disorder" promises an angsty and passionate journey through the late 70's punk scene. Instead it pulls you down the rabbit hole into slow, heavy songs that envelope you in middle class European post punk. The record was made to sound like it was done in an industrial freezer, and this album certainly gives me chills.

The National's High Violet, a claustrophobic masterpiece.

The National's latest release is a fascinating journey through the evolving musical landscape of New York based band The National. Much like a Woody Allen movie, the songs are dark, funny, and open to interpretation. Parts of the album are incredibly frantic and others are almost static. Every song hits home. The lyrics are poignant and everything you'd want from The National. The metaphors drip and the anthemic passion swirls like falling leaves in autumn.
